The Purpose Patrol (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a children’s purpose and confidence initiative run by Pamela Femi-Ojo in London, UK. This policy explains what personal information we collect through thepurposepatrol.org, why we collect it, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

What we collect and why

  • Contact form: your name, email address and message, so we can reply to your enquiry.
  • Newsletter and free chapter sign-ups: your name and email address, so we can send you the free Chapter 1 and occasional updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Workshop registrations: parent or guardian name, email and phone number, and the details about your child needed to run the workshop, so we can confirm places and contact you about the event.
  • Shop orders: name, billing and delivery address, email, phone number and order details, so we can process and deliver your order and meet our legal and accounting duties.
  • Account details: if you create an account, your login details and order history.
  • Technical data: basic information such as IP address and browser type, used for security and to keep the site working.

Children’s information

Our website is for parents, guardians and educators. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Where a workshop requires information about a child, it is provided by their parent or guardian and used only to run that workshop.

Our lawful bases

  • Contract: to process your order or workshop booking.
  • Consent: to send you marketing emails and free resources. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: to answer enquiries, keep the website secure and improve our services.
  • Legal obligation: to keep financial records.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with providers who help us run the site, under appropriate safeguards:

  • Stripe (and Klarna or Link where you choose them) to take payment. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Mailchimp, which we use to send newsletters and free resources to people who have signed up.
  • Our website host and email provider.
  • Delivery services, to send your order.

Some providers, including Mailchimp and Stripe, may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep it

Enquiries: up to 12 months. Marketing sign-ups: until you unsubscribe. Order and payment records: 6 years, as required for tax and accounting. Workshop records: up to 12 months after the event.

Cookies

The site uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, such as keeping items in your basket and keeping you logged in. We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to how we use it, move it to another provider, or withdraw consent at any time. To do so, email connect@thepurposepatrol.org. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
